XenApp & XenDesktop 7.5 Blueprints

Getting a daily email of blog updates from Citrix can be a wealth off information, and I would highly suggest that you have a look at signing up to it. You just need to go to Citrix Blogs and you can sign up by email or RSS.

Just today apart from all the blogs about the 7.5 release there was also a link to XenApp 7.5 and XenDesktop 7.5 Blueprints that are now available.

You can get to the pdf’s directly here:

As Daniel Feller says in the blog post “grab a drink, sit down, get comfortable and grab the following blueprints” as the information in these are excellent. They take you through both the Conceptual & Detailed Architecture but also shows you:

1.Identifying the most common type of user groups and recommended resource
2.Defining authentication and security policies to gain access to the resources
3.Detailing the image, application and personalization settings for each resource catalog
4.Allocating the right number of control systems to support the overall solution
5.Determining how much hardware (CPU, RAM and storage) we will need in order to build the environment.

These are just over 20 pages of really useful information, and I really liked the step by step guide to the process of how a user authenticates to get their list of resources.

On a side note Daniel has also updated the Visio Stencils for 7.5 which you can get here:
